Malinga will not be able to join MI in some starting matches

The main reason is that his father is ill and may have surgery the very next week. So, Malinga will have to present their and another reason is the quarantine rule of Sri Lanka. Anyone coming from outside Sri Lanka, he/she has to be quarantined for 14 days. So, if Malinga visits UAE for IPL and if in certain case he wants to come back to Sri Lanka, he would have to quarantine himself for 14 days and then meet his father.

This is the main reason behind Malinga’s not going to UAE with his squad. Although, without Malinga, there will not be a great impact on Mumbai Indians bowling squad because there are many more sitting in the quad like Mitchel McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah, Nathan Coulter-Nile and many more all-rounders like Hardik Pandya and Pollard.

This was the main reason why Malinga will not be able to join MI in some starting matches
